It was a tragedy what happened on Friday, November 27th in the Colorado Planned Parenthood. Mr. Dear, a pro-life advocate, took it upon himself to take the lives of three individuals in the clinic and injured nine more. His conviction that it was up to him to stop the clinic from continuing to provide services which include: health screening, reproductive education and, yes, abortions lead to this tragedy. His reasoning being his religious objections to the death of fetal life. Pro-life advocates, like Mr. Dear, believe that their religiously based objections to abortion should be put into effect on all people of all religions. Effectively wishing to remove the right to choose, because what they believe tells them it is wrong, who else does this sound like? Ah yes, the Muslim extremist that have forced religious rulings on their people. Groups like ISIS that gain control through fear and indoctrination in order to let the Koran, or at least their interpretation of it, be the law. Places like Saudi Arabia where women cannot drive by law. What is next, women whom are accused of adultery being punished by stoning them to death, a practice the bible allows and that places like Saudi Arabia have as institutionalized punishment?
The United States of America has become such an amazing country because it has not disallowed certain groups from flourishing, be they cultural, religious or ethnic. Basic constitutional rights attempt to separate church from state because, even within the same religion, different sections and people translate the texts as having different meaning or as evolving with the progression of humanity and civilization. Pro-life groups and advocates have all the right in the world to make their own choices, but every individual has the right to make their own choices as well. You cannot force your beliefs on someone whom does not wish to believe or follow them. It would make you no better than the Islamic extremists that have painted the view of Muslims as terrorist when a majority are quite moderate and rally against the reign of terror they bring on the people trapped within the boarder they lock with an iron curtain.
If all life is precious why do you not advocate for peace, or prevent intercity violence? Why does CNN estimate that between 1973 and 2003 there have been over 300 acts of extreme violence against abortion providers because of their stance on the procedure? If life is so precious why does your belief give license to men like Mr. Dear to end three because he disagrees? Is life really so precious to them or does it only matter if it can stop the rights of those whose beliefs do not match those of the Pro-life advocates.
